Being a good neighbor on the air

We're a friendly, all-ages group, and we'd like to keep it that way. These aren't strict rules so much as the way good neighbors treat each other.

On the air

  • Keep it family-friendly. Kids and grandparents are listening — no profanity, no arguments.
  • Identify with your call sign. It's required, and it's polite.
  • Share the frequency. Leave pauses so others can break in, and keep exchanges brief during the net.
  • Help, don't heckle. If someone's struggling with their radio, walk them through it kindly.

On the forum

  • Be welcoming. Assume the best, especially with newcomers and "basic" questions.
  • Stay on the right side of the rules. GMRS is for personal and family use — no business traffic, no music.
  • Leave the squabbles at the door. We're here for radio and neighbors.

That's really it. Treat folks the way you'd have wanted to be treated when you were the new person, and you'll fit right in.
