Local alerts & resources

Radio is how we stay in touch — but it helps to also plug into official local information.

Whatcom County

• Sign up for county emergency alerts. Whatcom County sends notifications by phone, text, and email — search "Whatcom County emergency alerts" and register your address.
• NOAA Weather Radio broadcasts continuous weather and hazard alerts; many radios and cheap weather radios can receive it.

Our groups

• Local weekly nets are where we share local, on-the-ground updates.
• Whatcom Skagit GMRS has a Facebook page about local GMRS activity. Find it at: Facebook.

Keep a paper copy

Alerts are great until the power and cell service are gone. Keep the important frequencies, the net schedule, and a couple of phone numbers written on paper in your go-kit.
